I’d seen ads for tons of stuff I wanted to see, but only having a Monday and Tuesday night off I thought my chances of seeing all the shows I wanted would be stretching it a bit.

I was dead wrong - THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD SEE.

Like most people who work in the hospitality industry having Monday / Tuesday off is the normal thing with all the other nights being our busiest time at work.

With all the shows for the ACF being on Wednesday to Sunday nights I was soooo disappointed that I wouldn’t get to see a damn thing.

My friend Julia Morris will be on with her fab new show Don’t You Know Who I Used To Be and I was busting to see her as well as good friend Courtney Act with her show Gentlemen Prefer Blokes. Then of course another friend from Sydney Mitzi Macintosh with her fundraiser Gay Bingo (which I’ve seen many times and is hilarious) and my mate Bob Down's show.

I wanted to see Nick Christo and Adelaide’s own Hugh Sheridan and Libby O'Donovan and of course Bernadette Peters and David Campbell but there is nothing (except a visual arts exhibition) for any of us hundreds of hospitality workers with our early-in-the-week -nights off.

Of course I understand that the availability of artists on certain nights is the thing, but even on the other nights there are some amazing shows that are on - on the same nights and at the same time as other fantastic shows, so that would also cause a problem for some people having to toss up what they see (wish that was my problem.)

I guess we were spoilt with Adelaide's Fringe with something to see every night including Monday and Tuesday.

But on Sunday April 26 all was forgiven when I read in the Sunday Mail on page 3 that LIZA MINNELLI was coming to The Entertainment Centre on Monday October 26. MY NIGHT OFF. I was sooo happy I was dancing around the house singing “Its Liza with a Z not Lisa with an S, its Zzzz not Sssss”… Until I read the continuation of that story in the entertainment section that said Adelaide Friday October 23. So I went online and checked… BUGGA! It was Friday Octber 23, so I cant go.

What a huge disappointment.

Maybe the Sunday Mail might fly me to Perth on the Tuesday (my other night off) to see her there at Burswood Casino in return for writing a column on it, because it was their mistake that got me so excited?

Doubt it.
