It was part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and was a fundraiser for the AIDS Council of SA.

It was hosted by Mitzi Macintosh, a multi award winning Drag Queen from Sydney as well as Naomi, a butch lesbian with the voice of an angel.

I was with close friends Rochelle and Fifi (they were not frocked up) and it was hilarious to see them wave at Mars Bar regulars and say "hi", with these patrons not recognising them out of drag and looking behind them as if to say "who the fuck are they waving to? Do I know them?"

The room was packed with colour and movement and the who's who of Adelaide’s gay and lesbian community.

With eyes down for a fun night, Mitzi and Naomi didn’t miss a trick with some of the funniest bingo calling I’ve ever heard. And with audience participation, these gals had most of the room in tears of laughter.

The hats that had to be worn for calling out BINGO instead of BINGAY were a riot. The one for the boys was shaped like a massive cock and balls and the one for the girls was shaped like a huge vagina.

At just $15 for 6 pages of tickets with 6 major games and 6 quick games per book, it was money well spent - not to mention a worthy cause.

It’s a shame there aren’t more nights like this here in Adelaide on a regular basis. I do miss my Bingay nights at the Ed.  Maybe I should talk to the wonderful people at Garage Bar and see if we can’t resurrect them - maybe monthly - and for charity.

It was great to see so many of you supporting the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. The atmosphere down at The Festival Centre was amazing with nearly all shows sold out.
