South Australia ‘in front in 1972, backward in 2009’ (blaze 214 ‘Raise Your Voice’). This does not surprise me one bit. Back in 1972 South Australia was way ahead when it became the first state to decriminalise male homosexuality that is consensual between adults in private under the Criminal Statutes (Sodomy References Repeal) Act 1972, with an equal age of consent of 17 in 1975 under the Criminal Reform Packages Act 1975. Today SA is the only state in Australia to ban single women and lesbians from IVF access - which is a breach of national and international human rights protocols and dignity. Canada, UK, US, Ireland, New Zealand and all other places in Australia allow ALL WOMEN full access to IVF. There were reforms back in June, 2007 when 109 SA statutes got amended to say 'domestic partner' and the words 'de facto partner' were repealed. However, this reform did not apply to 2 Acts: Adoption Act 1988 and the Reproductive Technology Act 1988. South Australia lawmakers - you were once way ahead - now so far behind.
