The fabulous Wau Wau Sisters, hits of the 2007 Feast Festival, are back! Peter Burdon spoke to the girls about their show.
It’s the morning after their final performance in London, we’re speaking to Adrienne Truscott, one of the Wau Wau Sisters, as they pack their bags for an afternoon flight to New York, then Mexico, back to the UK, and then on to Adelaide.
“We had such a great time in Adelaide in 2007 we’ve been hoping to get back, and the dates for the Fringe this year were perfect, so we’re heading down under again! We’re going to give Australia its first taste of our new show, which we’ve only done in New York so far, so Adelaide is getting it while it’s still as fresh as a daisy!” The show, cheekily, is called The Wau Wau Sisters’ Last Supper. “We always try to work on something new, which is hard when you’re touring, but in 2007 and 2008, with all the electioneering in the US, it began to look like something really important and life-changing, like getting rid of Bush, might actually happen. Well, that was an invitation to us, and we finally premiered it in New York last year.” Lest there be any doubt, there is a table, and certain lucky members of the audience will find themselves very much a part of the action! “Well you can’t have a Last Supper without a table, can you?” Adrienne exclaims. “Let’s just say you will recognise the tableau but the guests will be decidedly different, as will the hostesses!” The Wau Waus sold out in 2007, and 2010 is sure to follow. Garden of Unearthly Delights from February 25 – March 13.
