On Saturday August 16, Adelaide’s LGBTIQ communities are invited to a very special gala event at the Norwood Concert Hall.
Feast Festival has programmed a brilliant line-up of performers from around Australia who will inspire, seduce, shock and most importantly entertain.
The audience on the night will be the first to see Feast’s 2008 poster and also hear some of the 2008 Festival highlights (with tickets going on sale following Binge.)
Meow Meow (pictured) is no stranger to Adelaide audiences and has been called ‘a comedian of extraordinary nerve’, ‘vibrant, sexy, funny and super-talented’ and ‘sensational’. An international singing sensation and exotic performance artist, Meow Meow mixes up an explosive cocktail of kamikaze kabarett, sequins, razor blades, opera ‘brut’, politics and karaoke splendour.
Two time ARIA nominee Coco’s Lunch, featuring Libby O’Donovan, make a welcome return to Adelaide. Described as ‘a national treasure’, these women have carved a blueprint for honouring the earth and one another with the release of five original albums to critical acclaim. Coco’s Lunch take audiences on a sonic journey that is magical, spontaneous and disarmingly original.
Glace Chase (see below) was the Feast Artistic Director’s favourite show at midsumma this year. Part cabaret, part motivational-lecture, part trash, Glace’s outrageous story telling and wicked songs are shaping up to be the hottest fireball since Chernobyl. Nothing is too sacred for the Glace take on life. The Sydney Morning Herald said, “If Paris Hilton had been born to hippie parents … she would resemble ‘boy-drag’ performer Glace Chase”.
Justin J Bear is the only man ever to hold three concurrent Sydney identity titles including Sydney Pride’s Sexiest Male! Far more than just a hot looking cowboy, Justin is a singer, guitarist, songwriter and performer who has the voice of an angel. He has enchanted audiences all over Sydney and Brisbane with his own style of leather-clad caBEARet show.
Feast’s Artistic Director, Daniel Clarke says…
"This is a fantastic line-up. We are really lucky that all these artists have committed to supporting Feast. This is a rare event for Adelaide, a uniquely bent gala in the middle of winter. The acts are so diverse and have a wide appeal. It’s time to frock up! Think glamorous. Think sexy!"
Doors for Binge will open at 7:30pm for an 8pm start.
Tickets are $50 and $30 concession and can be booked on 8231 4322.
The night will also feature DJ Frayne Train on the decks and a Silent Auction.
Drinks and food can be purchased at the venue. Strictly no BYO.
An audience with Glace Chase
What can you tell Adelaide audiences about Glace Chase?
Well, I’m an ex-child star, peace activist and saviour. I’m a people person. Recently I decided to turn my back on my television roots and focus on my favourite medium, song. And I love everyone, even those who are not popular. I’m not sure if that applies to people in Adelaide.
What has been the highlight of Glace’s career so far?
Straining dirty water through muslin cloth to provide fresh drinking water to Botswana refugees. I cried when they reached for the mud and I slipped clear water into their hands. French kissing Madonna was also fun (she does have a Mommy thing!)
What is your idea of a big night out?
Curling up on the sofa with a special someone. Every other night I’m out partying with Armani or grave robbing with Versace. It’s a busy life.
If I was buying Glace Chase a drink what would it be?
A big, icy, tart mojito... With extra lime.
What would be the way to your heart?
I have a heart?
What is Glace Chase’s earliest childhood memory?
My first memory is a progressive party that my parents threw at our commune in Texas. I woke up to a mass of heaving, sweaty bodies doing unspeakable things. It was certainly an education. Thank god for liberal minded parents!
